The average American lives 78.93 years as of 2020. If we don’t adjust for the first fifteen years of life during which there is slightly less TV time and just use the above numbers, we find that the average American watches television 18.09 years of television in their life. This calculation is based on 12 hour days to account for sleep. (78.93 yrs * 365 days per yr * 2.75 hours per day /12 hours).
